1. Classification by chemical composition
Hot melt adhesives
Hot melt adhesives are solid adhesives that are bonded by heating and melting. They usually solidify quickly after cooling to form a strong bonding effect. They are widely used in seamless clothing, elastic fabrics and other fields.
- EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer): This adhesive has a soft texture and is suitable for bonding light and medium-weight fabrics. It is commonly used in underwear and daily clothing.
- TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane): It has excellent elasticity and wear resistance and is often used in elastic fabrics and high-performance sportswear.
- PES (polyester): It has strong heat resistance and is suitable for high-temperature processes. It is the first choice for industrial textiles and some special clothing.
Water-based adhesives
Water-based adhesives are environmentally friendly adhesives based on water, suitable for products with high environmental requirements, such as home textiles and daily clothing. Its volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions are low, reducing the impact on the environment.
- Acrylic emulsions: provide good water resistance and flexibility, suitable for home textile products such as curtains and sofa covers.
- Polyurethane emulsions: good elasticity and strong abrasion resistance, suitable for bonding sportswear and other elastic textiles.
Solvent-based adhesives
This type of adhesive is dissolved in an organic solvent and forms a strong bonding layer after the solvent evaporates. They have strong viscosity and are suitable for certain special functional textiles, such as waterproof and fireproof fabrics.
- Chloroprene rubber adhesives: strong water resistance and aging resistance, suitable for bonding outdoor waterproof clothing and footwear.
- Silicone rubber adhesives: high temperature resistance, good elasticity, suitable for fireproof clothing and protective clothing for high temperature operations.
Powder adhesives
Powder adhesives exist in powder form and are applied to the surface of textiles after hot melting or dissolution. They are often used in seamless clothing and special textile applications.
- PA (polyamide) powder: good heat resistance and oil resistance, suitable for seamless underwear and elastic fabric splicing.
- PES (polyester) powder: high temperature resistance, strong bonding effect, mostly used in the production of industrial textiles.
Acrylic adhesives
This adhesive is mainly used for surface decoration and printing bonding of textiles. It is transparent, flexible and washable. It is often used in the bonding process of textiles such as embroidery and printing.
UV curing adhesives
UV curing adhesives cure quickly under ultraviolet light and are suitable for some fast-processing textile applications, such as industrial textiles and decorative textiles.
Silicone adhesives
Silicone adhesives are widely used in anti-slip and waterproof treatment of textiles due to their excellent elasticity, high temperature resistance and anti-aging properties. It is suitable for local coating applications of shaping clothing, underwear, sportswear, etc. to increase anti-slip properties. AT-B01 and AT-B02 silicone coaters are used for the uniform coating process of such silicone.
2. Classification by form
Solid form
- Hot melt adhesive film: This adhesive exists in the form of a film and is bonded by heating and melting. It is suitable for seamless clothing, elastic fabrics and industrial textiles. LQ361T hot melt adhesive film is a representative product, widely used in the splicing of seamless underwear, panties, and elastic fabrics, with excellent elasticity and waterproofness.
- Powder adhesive: Powdered adhesives need to be applied to textiles after heating or dissolving, and are often used in seamless clothing, such as PA (polyamide) and PES (polyester) powder adhesives.
Liquid form
- Water-based adhesives: Water-based adhesives usually exist in liquid form and are suitable for bonding home textiles, clothing, embroidery and printing. They are environmentally friendly and non-toxic, and are safer to use.
- Solvent-based adhesives: Solvent-based adhesives exist in liquid form and achieve bonding after the solvent evaporates. They are suitable for the protection of outdoor or functional textiles, such as waterproof and fireproof fabrics.
Paste/gel form
- Silicone adhesive: Silicone adhesive is in paste or gel form, suitable for anti-slip and waterproof treatment of textiles, and is often used for anti-slip coating of underwear and sportswear. This type of adhesive can be evenly applied by a dedicated silicone coater, such as AT-B01 and AT-B02 coaters.
- Acrylic adhesive: This gel adhesive is transparent and flexible, suitable for pattern bonding or decorative processing of textiles.
Hot melt form
- Hot melt adhesive strips/granules: This adhesive exists in the form of strips or granules and needs to be heated to achieve bonding. It is often used for splicing industrial textiles, footwear, and household items.
3. Application fields and characteristics
Textile adhesives of different types and forms are suitable for a variety of textile application scenarios, such as:
- Seamless clothing: Hot melt adhesive film and powder adhesive are suitable for the bonding of seamless underwear, sportswear and other products due to their softness and elasticity.
- Anti-slip design: Silicone adhesives are widely used in underwear, shaping clothing and other products that require anti-slip functions, with long-lasting elasticity and wear resistance.
- Functional textiles: Solvent-based and powder-based adhesives are suitable for industrial textiles, such as wear-resistant, waterproof and fire-resistant fabrics.
